Malang – The Faculty of Psychology and Health Sciences (FPK), UIN Walisongo Semarang, conducted a benchmarking visit to the Master’s Program in Biomedical Science, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FK UB), on Friday, November 21, 2025. The activity, which took place at Classroom 2, 6th Floor of the Professional Education Building (GPP), FK UB, was part of efforts to improve the quality of management of the Biomedical Science Study Program and to strengthen academic capacity in curriculum development, governance, and academic administrative services.

The benchmarking activity aimed to obtain information and best practices from the Master’s Program in Biomedical Science at FK UB, which has extensive experience in the delivery of postgraduate education in the biomedical field. The results of this activity are expected to serve as a strategic reference for FPK UIN Walisongo Semarang in developing curricula, learning systems, academic administration, research, and student affairs.

The benchmarking delegation from FPK UIN Walisongo Semarang consisted of the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Institutional Development, the Head and Secretary of the Biomedical Science Study Program, members of the Curriculum Development and Quality Assurance Team, as well as academic administrative staff. Meanwhile, FK UB as the host institution was represented by the Head and Secretary of the Master’s Program in Biomedical Science, teaching staff, and administrative officers.

The activity began with opening remarks from the leaders of both institutions, followed by a presentation on the governance and academic management system of the Master’s Program in Biomedical Science at FK UB. An interactive discussion and question-and-answer session then took place, addressing various aspects of postgraduate program management, including curriculum, learning methods, and academic administrative systems. The series of activities also included a visit to educational facilities and research laboratories, the exchange of tokens of appreciation, and joint documentation.

From the benchmarking results, several important insights were obtained, including the implementation of study program governance supported by a clear organizational structure, the utilization of an integrated academic information system, and the application of an outcome-based curriculum in accordance with the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) and National Higher Education Standards (SN-Dikti). In addition, the Master’s Program in Biomedical Science at FK UB applies student-centered learning, problem-based learning (PBL), and strengthens thesis research through interdisciplinary collaboration and adequate laboratory support.

In the area of academic services, FK UB has implemented an efficient digital-based administrative system supported by competent human resources. Support for students is also reflected through facilitation of scientific publications, participation in academic conferences, and intensive supervision in the implementation of thesis research.

Through this benchmarking activity, FPK UIN Walisongo Semarang obtained various strategic inputs and recommendations, including strengthening the governance structure of the study program, developing sustainable digital academic administration systems, refining research- and health-technology-based curricula, and expanding academic and research collaboration networks. In the future, both institutions are expected to follow up on formal cooperation, such as Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) or Memoranda of Agreement (MoA), particularly in the areas of research and human resource development.

This benchmarking activity is expected to make a significant contribution to improving the quality of education and research, as well as strengthening the management of the Biomedical Science Study Program at the Faculty of Psychology and Health Sciences, UIN Walisongo Semarang.
